Tips lead to arrest of man sought in Dickinson stabbing
A man the Dickinson Police Department had been searching for in connection to an April 28 stabbing was arrested at about 11 a.m. Saturday.
A tip led police to a local motel in north Dickinson where Sumpter was located and arrested for aggravated assault after brief negotiations with investigators, a release by the DPD stated.
At about 2:14 a.m. April 28, police responded to the 600 block of Villard Street East in reference to an assault that resulted in a 31-year-old Dickinson man getting stabbed.
Sumpter had allegedly fled the scene on foot prior to police arriving at the residence. Officers conducted a search of the area but were unsuccessful in locating him.
The victim, whose name has not been identified, was transported and admitted to St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center.
Sumpter is being held at the Southwest Multi County Correction Center in Dickinson.
