The Dickinson Trinity volleyball team was pleased with the outcome of their season opener on Thursday.

The Titans used a strong offensive performance to sweep Mott-Regent 25-21, 25-21, 25-14 at Knights of Columbus Activities.

Despite a win at home, Trinity head coach Rayma Braaten already knows what her team needs to work on for the next match.

"We did good, we started slow every game so it was harder to get to our game eventually, but overall it was an OK job," Braaten said. "I think we have way more potential than we showed today. But again it's just the first game."

Despite it being the first game, seniors Katelyn Grinsteinner and Katie Dockter stood out on the court and impressed Braaten. Grinsteinner had 11 kills, 10 digs and a block, while Dockter recorded 23 assists, five kills and four digs.

Overall, the Titans played strong physically and mentally. Braaten was most impressed with the level-headedness of her team and not letting Mott-Regent get to them.

"They kept their composure even sometimes it if was like we were not playing at (Mott-Regent's) level," Braaten said. "But they still came through at the end which is good. They didn't let that kind of stuff affect them. I think they were being aggressive in their offense and I think their blocking they were being pretty good too."

The Titans continue play in a Hazen-Beulah tournament beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Braaten now knows what her team is capable of and what to work on, particularly focusing on consistency throughout the game.

"That would be a major issue," Braaten said. They need to work on being consistent starting from the beginning and keeping it all up until they end."
