Two bodies recovered after canoe accident

JAMESTOWN -- Two bodies have been recovered from Spiritwood Lake after a canoe carrying three people capsized early Monday.

The victims names of the victims had not been released Tuesday morning. One man was able to swim to safety.

Chad Kaiser, Stutsman County sheriff, said one victim was recovered about 9 p.m. Monday. Another body had been recovered earlier Monday by search and rescue crews.

Kaiser said two remote-operated vehicles were used in the search and recovery operation along with sonar equipped boats.

Spiritwood Lake is about 15 miles northeast of Jamestown.
