"We were informed there was a fatality that occurred in Dunn County related to oil and gas operations," said Eric Brooks, Bismarck Area OSHA Office assistant area director.

Little information was available Monday afternoon as OSHA inspectors were not yet at the location, he said, adding they expected to be there Tuesday.

Marathon Oil Communications Manager Lee Warren told The Dickinson Press Monday afternoon from Houston that there was a death on one of the company's locations.

"We are saddened to confirm that a contractor's employee has died on location in the Bakken Field near Killdeer," she said, adding the cause of death is unknown and there was no apparent incident on location.
