Update: Parts of Dunn, Mercer and Adams counties added to severe thunderstorm warning
Portions of Adams, Dunn, Mercer, Slope, Stark and Hettinger counties are in a severe thunderstorm warning, according to the Nation Weather Service
At approximately 3:30 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles south of New England moving northeast at 25 mph. Another thunderstorm formed 6 miles northeast of Taylor at approximately 5:15 p.m., moving northeast at 30 mph. The storms have the ability to produce 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail, according to NWS. Hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding and trees are expected.
Central North Dakota, most of western North Dakota and northeastern South Dakota are under a severe thunderstorm watch, according to NWS.
Meteorologists issued the watch at 2:40 p.m. for the region. Torrential rainfal is occuring with these storms, which could produce conditions for flash floods. The warning is set to expire at 9 p.m.
