Updated weekend sports postponements and cancelations

Winter weather has led to several postponements of sports and activities this weekend. Postponements are listed below by schools. Check back periodically throughout Friday for updates to this list. Dickinson High

Three Dickinson high boys and girls hockey games for the weekend have been postponed and one has been canceled. The boys were scheduled to play Bismarck High on Friday night but that game has been postponed until 6 p.m. Tuesday. Saturday's game against Williston has been postponed until 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4.

The girls were scheduled to visit Bismarck Friday afternoon but will now play at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30. The girls' Saturday game against Sidney, Mont., has been canceled.

Dickinson High's wrestling team will not go to the Grand Forks Multiple or a tournament in Baker, Mont., and junior varsity will not attend a tournament in Watford City. The gymnastics team's meet in Rapid City, S.D. has also been canceled.

All of Friday's sub-varsity boys and girls basketball games against Belcourt have been canceled while the varsity teams will play, beginning at 5:45 p.m. with the girls game. Saturday night's girls basketball game at Mandan has been rescheduled to Monday with the varsity game scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.

Hagen Junior High's eighth-grade game at Mandan and seventh-grade game against Mandan in Dickinson have been postponed from Saturday until Saturday, Jan. 30.

In other activities, Dickinson High was scheduled to attend a music festival in Grand Forks over the weekend. That has been postponed to a yet to be determined date.

Dickinson Trinity

Dickinson Trinity's girls basketball game against Beulah, scheduled for Friday night, has been postponed until Tuesday as a 5:30 p.m. varsity game that will precede the Beulah and Glen Ullin-Hebron boys basketball, scheduled for 7 p.m.

Trinity's junior varsity and freshmen teams will play at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday against Mott-Regent, whose varsity will play Trinity's JV.

Trinity's junior high boys basketball game, scheduled for Saturday against Hazen has been postponed until 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Dustin Monke

Monke came to The Dickinson Press in July 2006 as the newspaper's sports editor and was hired as its managing editor in March 2013. During his tenure at The Press, Monke has won multiple awards for sports reporting, feature reporting, column writing, page design and photography. He was a key part of The Press winning the North Dakota Newspaper Association's General Excellence and Sweepstakes awards in 2009 and 2012, and oversaw The Press' Sweepstakes and General Excellence wins in 2014, as well as its national first-place honors for Community Leadership in the Inland Daily Press Association and contributed to the first-place Inland award for Investigative Reporting. As the newspaper's editor, he writes an occasional Sunday column, is a member of The Press' Editorial Board, contributes feature stories and breaking news, designs pages, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the newsroom and editorial staff. In his free time, he enjoys watching sports and action movies, exercises whenever his schedule allows, and spends every minute he can with his wife and son.
