Email News Alerts

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. House on Tuesday gave its final approval to the Fargo-Moorhead flood diversion.

The Water Resources Reform Development Act, a package of water infrastructure projects including the proposed $1.8 billion flood channel around the metro area, passed 412-5, with both area representatives voting in favor.

Congressional authorization does not guarantee the project any federal dollars for the project, but merely a spot in line to seek federal funding. The project is asking the federal government to cover more than $800 million of construction costs.
