Webinar to focus on making multifamily housing affordable
Dickinson State University’s Strom Center is hosting a free webinar on making multifamily housing affordable at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Bill Hourigan, a housing outreach officer with the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency, and Keith Olson, the regional director of the North Dakota Small Business Development Center, will demonstrate how to package financing for multifamily housing projects to keep rents affordable, including information on accessing initiatives like the state Housing Incentive Fund and the Bank of North Dakota FlexPACE. The two will discuss other financing packaging strategies to build affordable multifamily rental units and how listeners can find financial packaging assistance.
Western North Dakota’s housing market consists of market-priced homes and low-income housing, but Strom Center interim associate director Ray Ann Kilen said the center is trying to “hit that gap in between” by informing the public about how to take advantage of available incentives to build affordable housing for essential workers like city employees and teachers.
The webinar, funded by Vision West ND, is the second in the Strom Center’s Western North Dakota Energy Project Boomtown series. For more information on how to listen in, visit www.stromcenter.com.
