The Dickinson Police Department responded to nearly 30 reports of burglaries and vandalism, causing thousands of dollars in damage over the holiday weekend.

Eleven people reported their vehicles were scratched, which will cost more than $16,000 to repair, said Capt. Dustin Dassinger.

A business, two homes and a Dickinson Parks and Recreation building were burglarized, he added.

A third home may have been burglarized since a window was broken and the screen was also peeled back, though nothing appears to have been stolen, Dassinger said.

There were five other reports of broken windows on homes and vehicles, Dassinger said, adding several other thefts and vandalisms were reported.

"There is the possibility that all of them could be related somehow," said Sgt. Dave Wilkie.

Police do not have suspects for most of the reports and no arrests have been made.

However, a juvenile turned himself in Friday for burglarizing an unoccupied home a week prior, Dassinger said.

The burglary hadn't been reported to police, he added.

"He had broken into a house and stolen some tools and stereo equipment," Dassinger said. "All the property was recovered."
