DILLON, Mont. -- Five days, 2,000 miles, four games and zero victories.

That was the tally of the longest Frontier Conference road trip the Dickinson State men's and women's basketball teams will take all season.

The Blue Hawk women couldn't hold on to a late lead in a tightly played game against Montana Western on Saturday afternoon, falling 57-54 to close out its weekend.

Jess Bygate gave DSU a 54-53 lead with just over 2 minutes remaining, but Western's Jenna Banks countered with a shot in the paint seconds later and made a pair of free-throws with 9 seconds remaining to seal it for the Bulldogs (12-9, 4-3 Frontier).

The Blue Hawks (5-15, 0-6 Frontier) took and missed three shots in the final 2 minutes.

"Western made a couple big shots down the stretch and we had a couple costly turnovers," DSU head coach Caleb Harrison said. "We played a real good game. We just didn't execute well the last couple minutes of the game."

Sammi Bignell led Western with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Banks finished with 12 points.

Bygate led DSU with 13 points and eight rebounds while Janae Moore added 13 points, three assists and three steals. Yianna Nadeau, who missed a shot from 3-point range in the final seconds, added 12 points -- all on 3-pointers.

"One of these days we'll get over the hump," Harrison said.

The Blue Hawks are idle until next Saturday when they face Western again, this time in the friendly confines of Scott Gymnasium at 5:30 p.m.
