Bill was born May 13, 1928, in Sidney, Mont., to Frank and Mary (Murcha) Nemec. He was raised in Savage, Mont. In December 1971, he was united in marriage to Melba Barth (Perschke). They moved to Dickinson in September of 1973 and moved to Bismarck in August of 2003.

Bill served in the 701st MP Battalion in California. He was honorably discharged in 1952. He was gifted with a variety of knowledge and talent. He worked/owned an excavating business in Dickinson for many years. Bill and Melba also owned and operated the Travelers Motel and gas station in Dickinson, where he was a great mechanic.

He loved spending time with his grandsons, Joshua and Matthew, showing them how the backhoe worked! He also loved having coffee with his buddies in Dickinson and in later years in Bismarck. He was a special man and we were so blessed to have had him in our lives!
