Members of North Dakota’s congressional delegation announced the funding Thursday. The dollars will be used to rehabilitate a taxiway and to study the feasibility of a new airport and site selection.

FAA Administrator Michael Huerta toured Williston’s airport in April and met with Sens. John Hoeven, R-N.D., Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., Rep. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., and other state and local officials.

Boardings at Williston’s airport increased from about 8,500 in 2007 to more than 94,000 in 2013, according to the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission.
