Wounded vet to attend State of the Union
FARGO — U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., announced that wounded veteran Eric Marts will be her guest at next week’s State of the Union address.
According to a news release, Heitkamp met Marts, who hosts a Fargo radio program for veterans, last summer when she traveled the state.
While a member of the Army National Guard, Marts was deployed to Iraq when he was hit by a roadside bomb. The explosion caused Marts to become blind, the release stated.
Saturdays at 10 a.m. on WDAY-AM 970, Marts hosts Heroes of the Heartland, a talk show that highlights issues of importance to veterans.
The address is at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
