Salt water storage tank leak causes spill near Antler

BISMARCK — A leaking salt water storage tank in Bottineau County has released five barrels of oil and 260 barrels of brine water, according to the North Dakota Department of Health.

The site, owned by Murex Petroleum, released fluid into an agricultural field and road ditch on Thursday, approximately four miles southwest of Antler. Approximately 420 barrels of fluid, including rain water from the area, have been recovered. Inspectors from the health department collected samples from the site for testing. Impacted soil is expected to be removed.
