MANDAN — Dickinson co-coach Dave Hanneman was disappointed, but not upset about the Midgets boys hockey team’s loss to Mandan on Thursday night.
Pat Bair scored a power-play goal with five minutes remaining in the third period to break a tie and give the surging Braves a 2-1 West Region victory at the Pepsi All-Seasons Arena.
“We’ve just got to keep working and working together,” Hanneman said. “We played a good game, it could have went either way.”
Blake Reis scored the Midgets’ tying goal with 7:36 left in the third off an assist by Cole Frenzel and Jeff Kaiser.
Mandan’s Tyler Russ scored the opening goal early in the second period. The Braves improved to 11-4 overall and 8-3 in the West.
“It was a negative that we lost, but we didn’t lose badly,” Hanneman said. “We didn’t go out there and lay an egg.”
Dickinson, which dropped to 8-7-2 overall and 5-7-2 in the West, hosts Wahpeton-Breckenridge in a nonconference game at 6 p.m. today at the Dickinson Recreation Center.
