BISMARCK — Dickinson was victorious in its first five matches in its West Region wrestling dual against Bismarck Century on Thursday night.

However, the Patriots had their best wrestlers in line to close out the dual and won eight of the last nine matches to seal a 45-25 victory.

The match began with a forfeit to Dickinson’s advantage at heavyweight and the Midgets followed that up with a pin, a major decision and a decision in the lower weight classes.

The four wins got the Midgets out to a 19-4 advantage. But from there on, Century ruled the mat.

“We didn’t match up real well with these guys,” Dickinson coach Cody Wolf said. “Where our good kids were, they were a little better and we couldn’t really shuffle a whole lot around to get away with that.”

Brandon Olhauser (135), Nick McCormick (140), Donavan Schulz (171) and Brad Engebretson (215) all recorded pins for the Patriots.

Colton Schaeffer (112) and Ethan Ladbury (189) had pins for the Midgets while Jaren Haugen (119) had a major decision.

“We were rolling right along from the beginning,” Wolf said. “Then we went down.”
