A memorial service for Skylar KayAnn Stanley, 8, Fort Morgan, Colo., is at 1 p.m. on Saturday March 22, 2008, at the United Methodist Church, 117 E. Bijou, Fort Morgan, Colo.
Skylar passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, in her mother’s arms at her home.
Skylar KayAnn Stanley was born Dec. 1, 1999, in Denver to Steve and Linda (Goetz) Stanley. She lived at home with her family.
Skylar received a heart transplant on Easter Sunday in 2000 at four months old.
She continued to battle numerous medical complications during her 8 years of life.
Skylar was faced with many challenges, but rose above them all and made the best of each day.
She was mommy’s “Big Girl” and daddy’s “Tough Girl”.
She will be remembered for her contagious giggles and her “I’d like it done my way” smile.
Her enjoyment came from “Sister Time” with big sister Samara, which included video games, crafts and being bed mates when the times got tough.
Other joys in her life were looking at cookbooks, baking, coloring and playing on the computer for hours.
Story time included reading books and a continuing story involving a magic kite that would take them places that she could not otherwise go.
Her favorite places to visit were Candy Island, the moon and Bikini Bottom.
A special treat was hanging out with cousins.
It is with heavy heart that we give up our precious little girl to be an angel with God.
She is survived by her family, Steve, Linda and Samara; maternal and paternal grandmothers, Marlene Goetz and Marlene Stanley; numerous aunts; uncles and cousins; and a few very special friends.
Waiting for her in heaven are paternal and maternal grandfathers, Roger Stanley and Clifford Goetz; as well as Isaac, her heart donor.
Gifts to Cardiac Transplant Research may be given to the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church as “Skylar’s Memorial.”
