New England man is injured in rollover

DICKINSON - A 56-year-old New England man was injured after his vehicle rolled early this past Saturday morning.

According to a news release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Michael Schatz, Belfield, was southbound on 116th Avenue Southwest, traveling toward 54th Street Southwest.

At about 1 a.m., Schatz attempted to turn left onto 54th Street Southwest, but lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle began spinning counter clockwise as it continued south across 54th Street Southwest, the release said.

It went on to state his vehicle was facing east as it entered the south ditch of 54th Street Southwest. The vehicle continued south and rolled, coming to a stop on its wheels facing northeast. The vehicle received about $6,000 in damage.

Schatz was transported to Dickinson’s St. Joseph’s Hospital for injuries sustained in the rollover.

The release stated Schatz was wearing a seatbelt and is facing charges of DUI and open container.
