BISMARCK(AP) — The North Dakota National Guard says a second group of soldiers from the 191st Military Police Company has arrived in Fort Lewis, Wash., after nearly a hear in Iraq, and 13 Guard airmen are returning home from Kuwait.
The first group of about 100 soldiers from the 191st arrived at Fort Lewis Monday night. The second group of about 60 arrived Tuesday night.
Guard officials say most of the soldiers will be back in North Dakota in a week. Sixteen members of the unit decided to extend their deployment for up to 13 months.
The 191st is based in Fargo with detachments in Mayville and Bismarck.
The airmen are members of the Air National Guard’s 119th Wing, based in Fargo. The Guard says 10 have been scheduled to get home Wednesday and three on Thursday. They are in a civil engineer squadron deployed in Kuwait since last September.
