Midgets’ Kuntz has unassisted hat trick

MANDAN — Dickinson High freshman Kira Kuntz scored a hat trick with three unassisted goals to help the Midgets to a 6-3 win over Mandan on Thursday.

Kuntz started the game with two goals, but Mandan’s Taylor Fischer fired back with two unassisted goals to tie it at 2 after one.

Dickinson’s Brittney Meyer scored to start the second with teammate Amity Lantz earning the assists.

Lantz followed that with a goal 3 minutes later, but Caitlin Bellon brought the Braves within one by scoring a netter with 17 seconds remaining in the second period.

Kuntz gave her team some insurance early in the third period and 4 minutes later, Meyer put the game on ice with her second goal of the game.

Dickinson outshot Mandan 32-20 and goalie Ashley Ludwig logged 17 saves.
