The All Season's-Park is one of the best assets for Hewson’s Subdivision in east Dickinson. There have been many people who have contributed time and money to make this park open so that all children who come into or live in this area will have a safe place to play. Families are also using the park for such things as picnics, get-togethers, and time to unwind from the everyday stress of life.
There is not one sensible explanation as to why this park should be used for a mess area for dogs. We neither want nor need the noise, or mess, that this park will create near homes in this area of town. There are times when people are beginning to wonder whether or not this community may be going to the dogs. Some issues that come up like this one are just a waste of taxpayer time and money.
We cannot afford to budget $50,000 of city money for this project. Our local businesses are already struggling, and they need to start working with those of us who have been here through the easy times as well as the times when way too many homes were foreclosed on. If the city wants to keep growing one way to add to population growth is to keep the people who are here happy, and limit wasteful spending.
It’s your choice as to whether Dickinson will be run by special interest groups who want whatever they want at the time; or by people who want to simply enjoy the peace, quiet, and tranquility of life without all the noise and disruption that this will create in this area of the city.
