James Kramer, Dickinson Park District director, said the Park District is not in a panic over the letter of resignation Mickey Jordan, Heart River Golf Course’s pro shop supervisor, turned in earlier this week.
Since Tyler Reisenauer resigned as the course’s golf professional this fall, the park district is looking into filling both positions.
“We’re in the same position we were in exactly one year ago, so it’s not like it’s a new road,” Kramer said.
Golf Pro Kevin Bergman died last February and the Park District filled his position with Jordan and Reisenauer.
“We at least have experience on what we need to do to be up and running and ready to go,” Kramer said. “You take it, you deal with it and hopefully you make the situation better and that’s what we’re going to try to do.”
He added they are more prepared this year.
“We’re going to look at the whole picture again and see what direction we want to go,” Kramer said. “It will be a challenge and it definitely will create hard times early in the season.”
Adding to the confusion, The 19th Hole restaurant is also in the middle of a change in ownership. A contract with potential owners is to be addressed today at the monthly Park Board meeting, which begins at 8:15 a.m., Kramer said.
Jordan’s last day is Feb. 20 and if necessary, the Park District staff is to keep the Pro Shop open during it’s regular winter hours — 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Kramer said.
“Once we get the ball rolling in the right directions we want to go, hopefully we can get somebody in place fairly quickly,” Kramer said. “If we can get somebody started while Mickey is still here, there’s some advantages of some training Mickey could do with the new person that would be beneficial.”
Jordan was unavailable for comment Thursday.
