A 76-year-old woman died Friday morning after getting pinned under a truck after it rolled in Morton County.

The truck was traveling east on Interstate 94 at about 10 a.m. Friday when 52-year-old Beth Tarduno of Rochester, N.Y. lost control of it. The truck slid sideways into the ditch and the tires got caught in the snow, causing the truck to roll one and a half times, according to a North Dakota Highway Patrol press release.

A 77-year-old Melvin Gutknecht, Hazen, was injured and his wife, Frances Gutknecht who was seated in the rear right seat, was ejected through the rear window becoming pinned under the truck. New Salem Fire and Rescue extricated her, and she was taken to St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck.

Melvin Gutnecht was treated and released, but his wife died from her injuries, according to the Highway Patrol report.
