Letter: Residents don’t favor cultural center

The Dickinson Press took a poll on the week of Jan 25-31. The Question asked was, “Do you think $2 million in state money should go to the High Plains Cultural Center in Killdeer?

460 people voted on this subject.

Percentage wise the results of this survey were as follows:

Yes - 17.17 percent

No - 72.61 percent

More money - 1.96 percent

Not that much - 8.26 percent

This concerns HB1193. According to the Dunn County Herald on Jan 30 Rep. Frank Wald introduced an amendment Friday which would allot the money for this amount be taken from the permanent oil and trust fund instead of the general fund. My point is, if there is $2 million of oil impact money available, instead of a recreational building, then a better use of the money would be to make necessary road repairs caused by the oil activity.

Please note senators and representatives the results of this poll. The people of Killdeer and Dunn County are not in favor of this building and we ask that you vote against this bill.
