Fast start helps Titans top Bulldogs

BOWMAN — Dickinson Trinity broke free early and put some breathing room between itself and Bowman County to get through Day 1 of its tough two-day stretch with a win.

Jordan Selinger scored 14 points and dished out five assists to help the third-ranked Titans win 47-40 Thursday night at Solberg Gym and extend their win streak to 17 games.

The Titans stretched a 16-15 first-quarter lead to 27-18 by halftime and had effectively put the game in hand with a 38-23 lead by the end of the third quarter.

“Our kids were very efficient on both ends of the floor,” Trinity coach Gregg Grinsteinner said.

The Titans (17-1) will need to be efficient again tonight when they host second-ranked Watford City (17-1) at Knights of Columbus Activities Center.

“They’re excited to play and I think we’re going to have a higher energy game too,” Grinsteinner said. “We’re looking forward to it.”

Alex Wolf had 18 points and six rebounds to lead the Bulldogs (14-4), who were without starting guard Kenzie Robertson.

Trinity junior center Austin Fridrich came off the bench to score 11 points and grab six rebounds. Junior guard Robbie Morey scored just five points, but had game highs of 10 rebounds and four steals.

“We don’t play well down in Bowman but we had a nice game put together,” Grinsteinner said. “It was a tournament atmosphere.”
