A 38-year-old Dickinson man was injured in a car crash 11 miles east of Watford City on Thursday morning, according to a North Dakota Highway Patrol press release, and is listed in critical condition after being air lifted to Minneapolis.

Harley Fisher of Dickinson was traveling west on Highway 23 at about 7:45 a.m. He struck the rear end of a road grader driven by Cole Thorton, 24, of Lambert, Mont., which was also traveling west, according to the report.

Both vehicles came to rest in the center of the westbound lane facing west. Fisher was air lifted to Trinity Hospital in Minot for injuries and has since been flown to Minneapolis, where he is in a medically induced coma, according to his sister, Lori Hanna of Flasher.

Hanna said Fisher had surgery to repair injuries to his face today.

Fisher was not wearing a seatbelt but the airbag in his Honda Passport deployed. His vehicle is a total loss.

Thorton was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt.

The weather was clear at the time of the crash.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol, McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office, and Watford City Ambulance responded to the incident.
