Other North Dakota residents are benefitting from what is new exercise equipment to them, thanks to Dickinson getting rid of what is old to it.
About $150,000 in new equipment at the West River Community Center in Dickinson was paid for in part with the sale of the equipment it replaced in late February.
The Dickinson Parks and Recreation Department opened up bids on used equipment in early February and sold all 27 machines, which raised about $25,000, WRCC facility supervisor Eric Kittelson said.
“We’re planning on doing this kind of stuff every four years,” Kittelson said. “Everything went smoothly.”
Kittelson said the $25,000 was used as a down payment on the new equipment.
Other parks and recreation departments throughout the state, including Bismarck, Valley City and Williston, as well as a couple of local schools and some private citizens purchased the machines.
Darin Krueger, director of the Williston Parks and Recreation Department said the sale of the used equipment was a good move.
“I thought it was a great opportunity for other people to have a chance to purchase some of the equipment,” Krueger said. “It was a good gesture on their part to help other districts or entities...”
Krueger said the equipment is in good shape and their members have been happy with it.
Kittelson said he’s heard positive comments about the new WRCC equipment.
“We’re getting a lot of great feedback on it,” Kittelson said. “Everyone loves being able to watch TV while they’re working out.”
