Western North Dakota under winter storm watch

The National Weather Service says a powerful winter storm is heading for North Dakota that could bring blizzard conditions to the Red River Valley and the Devils Lake Basin.

The National Weather Service says a powerful winter storm is heading for North Dakota that could bring blizzard conditions to the Red River Valley and the Devils Lake Basin.

The forecast calls for snow starting Sunday night and increasing Monday along with north winds, with a foot or more of snow possible in eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota. The wind chill factor could drop to 30 below zero.

Western North Dakota is under a winter storm watch. The weather service says the area could get hit with a 1-2 punch of snow, with the first round Sunday night and the second round Monday night and Tuesday. Up to a foot of snow is possible.
