Stark County residents can now get free sandbags from the Dickinson Public Works building and from the Stark County Shop in case of flooding.
“I’ve had about six or seven calls in the last few days, so people are starting to get concerned,” said Gary Kostelecky, Stark County Emergency Manager.
Ken Kussy, Dickinson Public Works manager, said he has also had a few inquiries for sandbags.
“Most of it is that they have a problem around a building or their home where the drainage isn’t real good,” Kussy said.
Dickinson residents should get their sandbags from the Public Works building, while residents living outside the city limits should go to the Stark County Shop.
Both locations will give out 50 sandbags per person free of charge. After that, they will cost 50 cents a bag.
Stark County will have employees to help with the sandbags from noon to 4:30 p.m. daily, while the city will provide them from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Kussy said they will make the sandbags available after hours in emergency situations.
