A motorcycle and pickup were involved in a head-on collision Tuesday night on West Villard Street and State Avenue.

Dickinson Police Department Senior Officer Brian Koskovich said the driver of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet and sustained injuries to his ankle and knee but was in stable condition.

The 2006 Gemstar motorcycle, driven by a 22-year-old male, was heading east on West Villard when it struck a GMC S-10 pickup driven by a 17-year-old male traveling west as it turned south to enter the Classic Lanes parking lot.

The driver of the motorcycle was thrown from his vehicle, hit the windshield of the pickup and was thrown over the top, landing in the truck-bed.

“At this point it doesn’t appear that there were any excessive speeds involved,” Koskovich said.

Officers issued a citation to the driver of the pickup for failing to yield to oncoming traffic.

“It is a very good reminder that with the weather getting nice out we’re going to see a lot more motorcycles roaming around, so people definitely need to be watching for motorcycles,” Koskovich said.
