BEULAH — Hazen won the second area Class B boys golf tournament of the season, battling through windy and cold conditions to shoot a 314 during the Beulah Invitational at Black Sands Golf Course.

Hazen’s Brady Hillerud earned medalist honors with a 76 and saw teammates Conner Borud and Colton Stiefel each shoot 79 to tie for second and Hazen senior Chad Marshall finish fourth with an 80.

Washburn (351), Bowman County (354), Dickinson Trinity (355) and Heart River (369) rounded out the top five team scores.

Heart River senior Devon Schmeling was fifth with an 82.

“Considering the conditions, as windy and cold as it was, you knew it was going to be scrapping and fighting for every hole,” Trinity coach Brock Cuskelly said. “You knew 80 was going to be a good score and it turned out to be really close.”

Lance Pender finished seventh with an 84 to lead the Titans. Sam Jilek (88), Nathaniel Knopik (89) and Michael Mann (94) rounded out the top four scores for Trinity.

The next area meet is Saturday at Sweetwater Golf Course in Bowman.
