MOTT — The newest member of the Mott-Regent School Board voted to appoint herself to a one-year term on the board.
Incumbent Heather Hertz was unseated by a write-in campaign during the regular election earlier this month, but the person who won declined the position.
That led to a special board meeting in which Hertz cast the tie-breaking vote to seat herself.
School Superintendent Myron Schweitzer says he thinks Hertz’s vote will stand, since none of the board members protested her participation in the voting based on a conflict of interest.
