RIVERDALE (AP) — Lake Sakakawea is about 20 feet higher than last year at this time with more water flowing into the Missouri River reservoir system.
The lake formed by the Garrison Dam has rebounded years of drought. It’s now at around 1,839 feet.
The big lake is expected to reach 1,840 around Friday — the first time it has reached that level since 1999.
The Army Corps of Engineers says heavy winter snow in Montana has meant higher inflows into the river system.
