Hoeven says FEMA's North Dakota coordinating officer, Tito Hernandez, indicated the agency has trailers available. FEMA has opened a disaster aid center at Dickinson's Prairie Hills Mall.
Hoeven's statement says dormitories at Dickinson State University and area hotel rooms are being used for temporary housing but long-term housing will be needed.
The southwestern North Dakota city of about 16,000 was hit Wednesday night by a tornado packing winds of about 150 mph.
