Letter: Proud to be from Dickinson

I have lived in Dickinson all of my adult life. We have a clean and friendly city and I have never been as proud of this fact as I was when devastation hit our area.

When a tornado had torn through the south side of Dickinson it looked like a war zone, but the citizens of Dickinson stepped right up and started to help each other.

My husband and I along with other friends and family helped an elderly woman get her yard cleaned up and it was amazing to see how generous people are.

People who were strangers came and helped clean up the debris. Men with chain saws, men with huge tractors and equipment, the Boy Scouts and their parents came carrying shovels, rakes brooms and plastic bags. Volunteers from all over came to help.

When the mess had been cleaned up one young man even mowed the lawn.

We have no need to worry about our younger generation and we can be very proud of our city and our citizens.
