Breuer heads to short round

FARMINGTON, N.M. — Casey Breuer all but assured himself a spot in tonight’s short round of the National High School Finals Rodeo.

The Mandan cowboy finished second in the Friday evening bareback riding performance with a 67-point ride, bringing his average score to 139.

Jamestown’s Laine Hanson took fourth in the evening’s breakaway roping with a time of 3.364 seconds. Jade Benson of Scobey, Mont., finished fourth in the morning’s breakaway at 4.29. Benson competes for Team North Dakota.

Fargo’s Annie Lindberg had a barrel racing time of 17.592 to finish third Friday evening. Lindberg competes for Team Minnesota.

The second round concludes this morning and the short round begins at 7 p.m. today.
