BEDMINSTER, N.J. — Medalist Amy Anderson of Oxbow, N.D., has captured the USGA Girls’ Junior Amateur Championship with a 6 and 5 victory over Kimberly Kim of Hawaii.
The 17-year-old Anderson just smiled Saturday as she left a 20-foot birdie putt on the edge of the 13th hole to close out her match with Kim, who in 2006 become the youngest women to capture the U.S. Women’s Amateur.
Anderson never let Kim get her hands on this trophy. She was 2-up after the morning 18 and then expanded the lead to 5-up after four holes in the afternoon round with some spectacular putting on the New Course at the Trump National Golf Club.
Medalist Jordan Spieth of Dallas was playing Jay Hwang of San Diego for the boys title.
