6 apply for judgeship

(AP) — The North Dakota Supreme Court says six lawyers have applied for a district judgeship in Dickinson.

The spot on the bench will become available when incumbent Judge Allan Schmalenberger retires at the end of the month.

The applicants are H. Patrick Weir of Medora, and five Dickinson attorneys: Vince Ficek, Dann Greenwood, Tom Henning, Robert Keogh and Gary Ramsey.

Gov. John Hoeven will appoint someone later to serve out Schmalenberger’s term. It ends in 2012.

Schmalenberger is one of three trial judges in the Southwest Judicial District. It includes Adams, Billings, Bowman, Dunn, Golden Valley, Hettinger, Slope and Stark counties.
