Roughriders top Bismarck, clinch No. 1 seed

MINOT — Eric Seiler hit a home run and pitched six solid innings to help the Dickinson Roughriders land the No. 1 seed in this week’s Class A American Legion baseball tournament in Wahpeton.

The Roughriders topped the Bismarck Governors 11-1 in six innings in their final game of the State Seeding Tournament.

Seiler tossed a four-hitter, striking out three and allowing just one run in the third inning. He went 2-for-2 at the plate, adding a double while driving in three runs.

His homer was a two-run shot down the right-field line in the second inning.

It followed Ben Herauf’s three-run homer in the first that helped give the Roughriders a 6-0 lead after two innings.

Herauf ended up driving in another run, as did Conner McNeilly, who went 2-for-4.

Cole Frenzel also drove in two runs. He was put out on fielder’s choices on both at-bats.

Dickinson (33-9) now faces eighth-seeded Wahpeton in the opening round of the state tournament. Wahpeton has not beaten a North Dakota team this season and qualified for the tournament only because it is the host.

Tyler Peterson and Alex Deyle each went 2-for-3 for the Governors while Hunter Johnson drove in a run. Zach Lardy pitched three innings for Bismarck and took the loss.
