Funeral service for Florence Kling, 95, of Dickinson, formerly of Dunn Center, will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 15 at the Vang Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim Voth officiating. Burial will be in the Vang Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson.
Florence passed away Aug. 11 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson.
Florence H. Rowe was born June 16, 1914, north of Werner, to Lewis Edward and Ida Belle (Fox) Rowe.
While growing up in Werner, she attended country schools and graduated from Werner High School and later received her teaching certificate from Dickinson Teachers College. She began her teaching career south of Werner in the Eagle nest District, remaining there until 1936.
Florence married Merle R. Kling on June 20, 1936 in Dickinson. Together the couple moved to Merle’s family farm, where they ranched and operated a livestock trucking business.
In 1987, Merle and Florence moved to Dunn Center where Florence made her home until moving to Dickinson in 2006. She resided at Evergreen for two years and then made her home at St. Benedict’s Health Center. Florence enjoyed playing cards, reading, playing scrabble and visiting with friends. She was a tremendous cook and was especially know for her homemade donuts. Florence was a member of the Homemaker’s Club and a member of Vang Lutheran Church.
Florence is survived by one brother, Robert Bryan Rowe of Wenatchee, Wash. and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle; brothers, Charles Lewis and Curtis Edward Rowe; sisters, Hazel Hanna Stone and Ida Mae Kennedy.
