The Dickinson State volleyball team was picked to finish sixth in the Dakota Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll released Monday.

Last year, the Blue Hawks had their first losing season since the early 90s, finishing with a conference-worst 5-22 overall record while going 4-10 against DAC opponents.

Black Hills State is the coaches' choice to win the conference this season. BHSU and Jamestown College, which is picked second in the poll, tied for the regular-season DAC title last year. BHSU beat Jamestown in the conference championship game to advance to the NAIA national tournament.

The Yellow Jackets return three all-conference performers, including last year's DAC Most Valuable Player, senior middle hitter Kristin Engle, setter Mandy Brumfield, a Dickinson native, and junior outside hitter Maggie O'Neil.

Jamestown returns Setter of the Year Kayla Fee and Dickinson State returns last year's Freshman of the Year Jennifer Hartman.
