MANDAN — North Dakota’s premier high school girls basketball program has a new head coach.

Longtime assistant Marv Pedersen will succeed Greg Amundson.

Amundson announced earlier this summer that he was taking a coaching job in Columbia Heights, Minn., after 29 years of coaching the Braves, compiling a 508-173 record and winning nine state titles. The 49-year-old Pedersen was an assistant for 14 of those years.

The Mandan girls have won nine state championships in the past 14 years, including six in a row earlier this decade.
