Murphy wins men’s all-around title

WATFORD CITY — Seth Murphy, a Killdeer native and Dickinson State graduate, held on to win the North Dakota Rodeo Association men’s all-around title last weekend.

Killdeer’s Scott Kleeman won the steer wrestling.

In the roughstock, three young cowboys won their first titles. Mandan’s Riley Knoll held off a solid field to win the saddle bronc riding despite being bucked in both rounds and Mandan’s Casey Breuer won his first bareback riding title by scoring rides of 73 and 71 at the finals. Thane Hollenbeck of McClusky won the bull riding.

Parshall’s Preston Billadeau and Upham’s Jesse Fredrickson won the team roping crown. Billadeau also held off Murphy to win the calf roping title.

Jackie Schau of Almont won the ladies all-around title.

Sawyer’s Brandi Guttormson won the breakaway roping and Mandan’s Kennedi Kautzman won the barrel racing.

Garrison’s Frank Whitecalfe won the senior men’s breakaway roping.
