Though he was due on Christmas, Conner James Ward waited until the next holiday to enter the world.
Conner was the first baby born in Dickinson in 2010 and Nicole Paul and Russel Ward of Dickinson are the proud new parents.
Conner was born at 2:06 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, registered nurse Judy Koppinger said. He weighed in at 7 pounds and 4 ounces and measured just over 18 inches, Koppinger said.
Conner is the couple’s first child and Paul said she did not expect her baby to be the New Year’s baby.
“He was actually due on Christmas,” Paul said.
It seems Conner was set on being the New Year’s baby, because Paul said she went into labor long before midnight and thought for sure he would be born before 2010.
“It took quite awhile to get him out,” Paul said.
She is thankful there were no complications.
“It went really good,” she said. It was long, but it was good.”
Family and friends came to visit Paul and baby Conner Friday and Paul said she is anxiously waiting to bring her new baby home.
The first baby born in Dickinson in 2009 entered the world on the afternoon of Jan. 2.
