Letter: Time to elect a delegation to represent state
The Senate passed its version of a health care bill on Christmas Eve, giving many Americans a few prospects for the new year: more taxes, Medicare cuts and an even deeper deficit, among others.
We can thank our Sens. Byron Dorgan and Kent Conrad for providing us with these to look forward to as they brushed aside needs of North Dakotans in favor of special interests and partisan agendas.
But Dorgan deserves special thanks. Not only did he vote for this bill that will be a detriment to our state, but he also actively campaigned in Minnesota for Al Franken who is now one of the most liberal members of the Senate and the 60th vote that the Democrats needed to strong-arm nearly any special interest legislation through.
It is at times like these that I truly believe Dorgan has forgotten he is in Washington to represent North Dakotans, not Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, his party or special interests.
It’s time North Dakota elects a delegation that is there to represent them, and with that in mind, November can’t get here soon enough.
