Crop council elections coming up
Elections for Stark County representatives for the North Dakota Dry Pea and Lentil Council, the North Dakota Barley Council, and the North Dakota Oilseed Council, will be held Jan. 27 at 12:45 p.m. in the Immanuel Church in Taylor.
The criteria to vote are as follows:
r For oilseed council: Anyone who has planted sunflowers in 2009 and intends to plant in 2010 and is a participating producer who resides in the county is eligible.
r For dry pea and lentil council: Any person who has not applied for a refund for at least three years; plants or causes to be planted a dry pea and lentil crop in which the person has ownership interest with the intent that upon maturity the crop will be harvested is eligible.
r For barley council: Each person, landlord, tenant, husband and/or wife, who planted barley in 2009 or intends to plant barley in 2010 and has not claimed any barley tax refund within the past year (except for duplicate payments), is eligible.

ND model farm to be established in Ukraine
FARGO (AP) — A group of North Dakota agribusinesses plans to demonstrate and sell equipment and supplies in the Ukraine.
Lt. Gov. Jack Dalrymple and state trade officials on Friday announced that a leading Ukrainian agribusiness, Ukrainian Agriculture AB, is to operate a North Dakota “model farm” in Ukraine that will serve as a dealer location for North Dakota farm equipment and supplies.
Participating North Dakota companies will work with the state Trade Office and the Ukrainian company to develop marketing events that will draw prospective buyers from throughout Ukraine.
Ukrainian Agriculture AB is owned by investors from the United States and Sweden. It is a leading Ukrainian producer of grains and oilseed crops.
