Jayden Fanning, a kindergartner at Heart River Elementary School, practices roping Friday at the school with the assistance of Ryan Routier, a Dickinson State University student and assistant DSU Rodeo coach. Michelle Erhardt, a first-grader at Heart River, also tries her hand at roping, Friday. For the rodeo segment of Friday’s events at the school, which included archery and scrapbooking, among others, students had the opportunity to practice roping, sit on a saddle and run around cones to simulate barrel racing.
