The National Weather Service has the Dickinson area under a “red flag warning” because of dry grass and windy conditions that are ideal for fires.
Low humidity and warm temperatures are expected across the region today, according to the service. The warning is active until 6 p.m.
The forecast is sunny, with a high near 61. Breezy, with a south wind 10 to 13 mph increasing to between 18 and 21 mph. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph.
Warm temperatures will create “explosive fire growth,” according to the NWS.
