BISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota’s Public Service Commission says a proposed wind farm north of Bismarck shows people are more willing to question wind energy projects.
A subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources wants to build 62 wind turbines in northern Burleigh County. The turbines will be capable of generating 99 megawatts of power.
The PSC is holding a hearing on the project at 9 a.m. May 20 in the state Capitol.
Commissioner Brian Kalk says recent wind projects built near U.S. Highway 83 between Bismarck and Minot have made people more aware of the impact of wind energy development.
Commissioner Tony Clark says some motorists are startled to see the wind towers close to the highway, and they realize how large they are.
