Letter: $119,597 distributed to those impacted by storm
Through the generosity of Dickinson residents as well as others outside of Dickinson, the Unmet Needs Committee was able to distribute $119,597 to people whose lives were impacted by last summer’s tornado.
Final checks were mailed this past week. Recovery after a disaster is a long and complex process. The role of the Unmet Needs Committee was only one part of the recovery process that continues to take place in south Dickinson.
The completion of the work of the Unmet Needs Committee points out the progress that has been made by the community over the past nine months. While there is more work that remains to be done, it’s a good time to thank the many community members who reached out and made a difference in the lives of those who suffered losses in the July 8 tornado.
It’s also a good time to commend those residents of south Dickinson who have faced the adversity of last summer’s storm, and who continue to make progress toward the “new normal” that will define south Dickinson in the coming months of recovery and rebuilding.
